Welcome back, lovelies! I trust you all had a fabulous weekend and hope that your week ahead is every bit as productive as you need it to be.

Today, I have a custom from the brand Smokey Mountain Lacquers that was designed specifically for My Lacquer Cabinet’s Polish from a Picture series.  What is Polish from a Picture, you ask? Well, I wanted to know what would happen if a bunch of makers were all given the same photo to use as an inspiration to make a polish.  The series evolved when I asked in a group and makers agreed to help me find out.  For the second instalment, this is the photo I sent people:

Smokey Mountain Lacquers – A Day for Love

A Day for Love is a white based crelly with tiny multicoloured microglitter; teal, yellow, purple, and red hexes; and a sprinkle of holo sparkle. While the base looks very white in the bottle, on my nails it matched my natural nail colour almost perfectly.  Since the photo is of me with my favourite three ladies in the world and it was at a wedding, A Day for Love is the perfect name!

I thought that I was going to require a lot of coats to get opacity of this polish.  After two coats, though, my nail line was covered easily.  The photos show my free edge much more than was visible in person (the downfall of bright lighting, I guess).  I allowed the first coat to dry for approximately 2 minutes before I added the next coat to prevent dragging and that worked perfectly. I used the tinfoil method to remove the polish.

This was my first polish from Smokey Mountain Lacquers and I found Kim to be extremely professional and easy to work with.  It isn’t a polish that I would necessarily have seen myself gravitating towards a couple years ago, but I now have a space for crellies in my heart.  I see this being a great summer pedicure polish!

What do you think of A Day for Love?
