Top Shelf Lacquer is not only a brand new indie to us at MLC, but it’s a brand new indie altogether.  When I came across some photos on Instagram, I knew I was going to have to try them out.

When the brand launched, it did not ship to Canada.  I rely on a mule (polish term for a friend that will forward polish on) to get polish that isn’t available in Canada, so I tried to be responsible and only ordered a couple instead of the entire Adult Soda Shoppe collection like I wanted to.  My choices were Watermelon Malibu Smurf and Tidal Wave.

Watermelon Malibu Smurf is by far my favourite of the collection.  It’s a neon pastel pink but it really is unique to my collection.  The name suits it perfectly.

I usually find pastel cremes can be difficult so I was happily surprised that this polish coverage without any patches in two smooth coats.Watermelon Malibu Smurf 1

Tidal Wave is a gorgeous pastel blue.  It’s just a touch too pigmented to be a baby blue but it’s not non-pastel either.  Follow that? 😉  As with Watermelon Malibu Smurf, it took two coats for coverage and I really am impressed with how nice they are for cremes.  10671348_10153020385778981_7926030154476839694_n

For a little fun, I turned both these colours into a gradient.  They worked perfectly and I am excited to add others so that I can try out some water marbles.

Since the launch, Top Shelf Lacquer has added international shipping to the store, so I will be headed back for the missing sisters of this collection.  Top Shelf Lacquer can be found on Etsy
