I have been loving Essie’s new collections as of late. While I liked the title colour of their Resort Fling collection, the rest had me underwhelmed. I was excited for the release of Hide and Go Chic as the colours looked really unique to me. When I stumbled across Sparkle Canada, they had the collection available (weeks before my usual go-to online retailer and cheaper) and I scooped up Hide and Go Chic, Truth or Flare, and Style Hunter.
In the bottle, I fell in love with Style Hunter. It is a bright raspberry colour and I was pretty excited about it. On the nail, though, it fell flat. That gorgeous raspberry turned into a boring red that wasn’t unique whatsoever. The formula was brightly pigmented and went on in two thin coats.
Up next is the collection’s namesake, Hide and Go Chic. I love the ‘pun’ny name and the colour is really unique in my collection. It’s a slightly green-leaning blue peacockish colour. In some lights, it just looks blue and in others you can see the hints of green. The camera didn’t capture the green tinge at all.
The formula was terrible to work with. It flooded my cuticles no matter how many times I removed the polish to start again. I’m really torn between loving this polish for the colour and hating the formula.
Finally, my favourite of my purchases from this collection is Truth or Flare. It’s a deeper baby blue colour. It really does remind me of denim jeans. The polish isn’t highly pigmented and it required three fairly thick coats to have opacity. I don’t mind three coats, and I loved this colour so much it was worth it to me.
You can get this collection from Sparkle Canada and their prices are the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere.
